Wonder Woman is going to be the next Superhero film from the Warner Bros. banner after the recently released Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie is currently in its filming stages and is being directed by Patty Jenkins.
The screenplay of the movie has been penned down by Jason Fuchs. It will be based on the DC comic character Wonder Woman and will be the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe.
Warner Bros. had previously come forward with an announcement regarding the release date of the movie. Wonder Woman was previously scheduled to hit the big screen on June 23, 2017. On the same date, another big budget film is scheduled to be released and it is Transformers 5.
Fans feared whether Wonder Woman will be able to hold its own in the massive clash against the juggernaut Transformers 5. However, a latest announcement from the filmmakers suggest that Wonder Woman will not have to come face-to-face with Transformers 5 as its release date has been preponed by three weeks.
The movie will now hit the big screen on June 2, 2017 instead of the pre-stated date of June 23, 2017. However, the movie will not be able to entirely avoid the battle of clashes as two other movies are going to be released on that very day.
These are- Bad Boys 3 and Captain Underpants. It should be noted here that Captain Underpants is an animated movie from the Fox and DreamWorks banner.
Experts are claiming that this has been a smart move on the part of Warner Bros. The decision to move forward the release date of the film will ensure that it manages to avoid the clash with Transformers 5 altogether.
Wonder Woman releasing on the same date as of Transformers 5 would have divided the movie buffs which would not have been good for either of the movies. Wonder Woman is going to be a significant movie for Warner Bros. as it will be their first movie that will be spearheaded by a female superhero.
A lot depends on the success of the upcoming movie including the fate of other DC Extended Universe movies that will be released in the future. Thus it can be safely stated that Warner Bros. would try to do anything in their power ensure that the movie becomes a massive hit, more so because their last released film- Batman V Superman is picking up a lot of criticism from both fans and critics.
Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot in the titular role and also in the role of her alter ego- Princess Diana. She has already made an appearance in Batman V Superman as Wonder Woman and her short role in the film has been able to win much kudos from fans and critics alike. Many are of the opinion that she stole the show with her short appearance.
The film will also feature Chris Pine, Lucy Davis, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright. Chris Pine will portray the character of Steve Trevor. Lucy Davis will play Etta Candy who is the best friend of Princess Diana.
The character of General Antiope, who is also the aunt of Diana will be played by Robin Wright. Connie Nielsen will portray the role of Queen Hippolyta, who is mother of Diana.
Also included in the cast of the film are- Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremmer, Saïd Taghmaoui and David Thewlis. However, the characters that these actors will be portraying in the movie is still unknown.
In other news, the cast of the movie were recently spotted shooting in Italy. A number of women dressed in battle-armor and matching helmets were seen riding horses and marching on foot along the edges of the Italian coastline.
