With Its Increasing Popularity, Popcorn Time Will Soon Threaten Hollywood and Netflix!

The personal use of a work or its use within a group of people who are closely connected is considered to be private use. It’s the same for a teacher and his/her class using this work for educational purposes only. Similarly, “copying of a work in enterprises, public administrations, institutions, commissions and similar bodies for internal information or documentation,”

All in all, it’s time for Netflix and Hollywood to be afraid. A Popcorn Time developer recently claimed that the application is being downloaded at the rate of 100,000 times per day. The information arrived thanks to Wired, regarding a broader look at the influence of Popcorn Time, ever since its return last year.

At this speed, it matches that of Netflix, which enjoyed an average of 138,000 viewers every day, during the fourth quarter of 2014. However, Netflix with its staggering 57.4 million users worldwide is far ahead of Popcorn Time. Meanwhile, the fact that Popcorn Time is started to get so close to it is equally shocking and impressive.

However, it will be impressive to see how Hollywood responds to this. The music industry was freaked out around a decade ago, and Apple swooped in as the savior iTunes. If Popcorn Time simplifies the downloading of video torrents, it will lead to a dramatic increase in piracy. In the end, if revenues take a hit, Hollywood might find itself with very less leverage.
