The Legend of Zelda Wii U’s Development Process is Near Completion, Most Likely to Feature a Female Link and Voice-Acting!

The Legend of Zelda Wii U is an upcoming action-adventure game that is being developed by Nintendo. The game will be released exclusively for the platform of Wii U home video game console. It is going to be the first game in The Legend of Zelda series to feature HD graphics.

The game is currently in its developmental stages and the developers are yet to come forward with a specific release date for it. However, fans of the series are in for some good news as Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the game recently stated that the development of the game is almost finished.

While enquired about the game he stated- “When we did Skyward Sword for the Wii, at the end stages of development, I was in charge of the characters’ dialogue and the in-game text. And, now as well, it’s like it was then. I had to work on text today, too.” His words are a clear indication that the developers will soon be done with the development of The Legend of Zelda Wii U.

He also added that the development process is going smoothly and the game is starting to take a good shape. The initial announcement for the game was made back in 2013. However, during the Electronic Entertainment Expo of 2014, Nintendo announced that the game will be released in the following year, that is 2015.

However, as can be seen, 2015 has come and gone and there is still no sign of the game. Back in 2015, Aonuma came forward with an announcement that stated that the release date for the game has been postponed. That being said, the producer did not specify as to when the game will see the light of the day.

He referred to Ocarina of Time and added that like that game, The Legend of Zelda Wii U too will bring something new to the table. Now Ocarina of Time was a really great game and since the developers are comparing The Legend of Zelda Wii U to it, it can be assumed that the game will indeed be a great one.

In other news, various rumors are suggesting the developers will incorporate a female Link Avatar into the game. While this could be an USP for the game, chances are there too that the whole idea might not be well accepted by fans.

Since the series has always featured a gender-neutral character, inclusion of a female Link Avatar might cause a dent in the whole aspect of gender-neutrality. Alongside the female Link, a male Link will also be present in the game. Both of these characters will most likely possess the same sets of skills and powers.

This will ensure that the gameplay experience of The Legend of Zelda Wii U does not change based on which Link a player chooses.

It was seen in the case of Hyrule Warrior Legends that the inclusion of Linkle in it was not welcomed by fans in a god way. Despite being in possession of a compass and a map, the character would often be seen getting lost as she lacked in skills and powers compared to the male counterpart. If indeed Nintendo includes a female Link in the upcoming, they cannot make the mistake that was done in case of Linkle.

A renowned website claims that the game will feature voice-acting. Voice-acting is something that has been avoided by the Nintendo when it comes to the matter of The Legend of Zelda franchise.

The voice-acting will be carried out for several characters of the game. However, the same will not be done for the lead character- Link and it will remain silent throughout the game.
