The Legend of Zelda is an upcoming iteration of The Legend of Zelda game which is scheduled for a 2016 release. It is currently being developed by Nintendo and will be released for the platform of Wii U.

The announcement for the game The Legend of Zelda for Wii U created quite a stir among fans of the series. The developers stated in their announcements that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be made with HD graphics. This is quite a significant aspect as it will become the first game in the series to feature HD graphics.

Various reports suggest that the maps that will be incorporated in the game will be biggest ones that has ever been featured in a Legend of Zelda game. It was previously slated for a 2015 release. However, back in March 2015, the developers came forward with an announcement which stated that its release will be postponed to 2016.

Apparently, the developers came up with brand new ideas regarding the game and this caused a delay in its release. The game is being touted as the most ambitious installment in the series of Legend of Zelda games.

Eiji Aonuma had previously hinted towards the fact that the game will feature open-world mechanism. He also added that fans can expect a twist in this regard. It looks like the advanced technology used in the Wii U has enabled the developers to bring about certain improvements over the already-established format of open-world gaming.

While speaking about the game he stated- “A huge, seamlessly unfolding world is something that can’t be achieved if the hardware isn’t advanced enough. Ever since we made the very first generation of Legend of Zelda games though, we’ve had as large a world as can be realized with the hardware, so you could say it was inevitable that we’ve now done the same with the new Wii U title.”

Christiantoday reports that there is a possibility that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U might be released as a cross platform game. Amidst various rumors revolving around the game, it should not be forgotten that Nintendo is ready to roll out a brand new console- the Nintendo NX.

Now, launching of a console would require games that will be compatible with it and it is being speculated that the upcoming Legend of Zelda game will be playable on this new console. Besides being compatible with the Wii U console, the game will likely be compatible with the Nintendo NX too.

As for the console itself, the latest reports suggest that it might hit the market in the ongoing year. Rumors doing rounds on the internet suggest that Nintendo might roll out the NX version of the upcoming game before releasing its Wii U version. A November release is on the cards for the NX version of The Legend of Zelda.

As for the Wii U version, there is a possibility that it is rolled out in the next month, that is December. However, chances are also there that Nintendo decides to launch both versions of the game in December.
