The Legend of Zelda is an upcoming iteration of The Legend of Zelda game which is scheduled for a 2016 release. It is currently being developed by Nintendo and will be released for the platform of Wii U.

The announcement for the game The Legend of Zelda for Wii U created quite a stir among fans of the series. Eiji Aonuma had previously hinted towards the fact that the game will feature open-world mechanism. He also added that fans can expect a twist in this regard. It looks like the advanced technology used in the Wii U has enabled the developers to bring about certain improvements over the already-established format of open-world gaming.

While speaking about the game he stated- “A huge, seamlessly unfolding world is something that can’t be achieved if the hardware isn’t advanced enough. Ever since we made the very first generation of Legend of Zelda games though, we’ve had as large a world as can be realized with the hardware, so you could say it was inevitable that we’ve now done the same with the new Wii U title.”

Christiantoday reports that there is a possibility that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U might be released as a cross platform game. Amidst various rumors revolving around the game, it should not be forgotten that Nintendo is ready to roll out a brand new console- the Nintendo NX.

Now, launching of a console would require games that will be compatible with it and it is being speculated that the upcoming Legend of Zelda game will be playable on this new console. Besides being compatible with the Wii U console, the game will likely be compatible with the Nintendo NX too.
