OnePlus 2 Gets an OS Update, Smartphone Exclusively Available on Amazon!

After the huge success of OnePlus one, July 2nd, 2015 was greeted by the launch of its successor the OnePlus 2. The smartphone took its own time to come up with its marshmallow upgrade. OnePlus 2 comes with its own unique build of operating system “Oxygen”.

It has been confirmed recently on a OnePlus forum that the smartphone is at the receiving end of an Over-The-Air update of its OS to Oxygen 3.0.2, as well as an incremental upgrade feature to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, was announced by the company on 5th June 2015.

The Chinese manufacturer in its forum said that the update should be available to all OnePlus Two units within 48 hours of the roll-out, sometime around Tuesday (7th June 2016). The update weighing 141MB brings in with it a few other enhancements as well.

However, one noteworthy point for users who are going to receive the updates is, the fingerprint authentication feature will have to be re-enrolled as it shall be wiped out after the upgrade.

Some of the special quirks involved in this update shall be the obvious inclusion of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. For a longer and better battery life, there will be an Enhanced Doze mode. Improvements, in the entire system’s performance. Improved Shelf UX, enabling users to now edit a board by simply long pressing it.

Users can expect more enjoyable and hassle free music as the integrated Dirac HD Sound Technology speaker has replaced the knobs and dials which previously came with MaxxAudio and Tuner.

There is also a new OnePlus camera UI and AF optimization. Fingerprint sensor and recognition performance has also been taken up a notch.

In addition to clear-all, clear process has also been added so that users can experience a better control over background processes. One can now lock their applications in Recents, so that they won’t be cleared off.

Moreover, with this upgrade you can stick with the network operator of your choosing, without having to worry about wandering off into unwanted networks.

Swiftkey has been upgraded to 6.3.3. It is advised to all those who haven’t yet received the upgrade notification can manually update to Oxygen 3.0.2 on their phones through the stock recovery option and download it using the OTA link. The link has been shared on the OnePlus forum.

It has been confirmed by the Chinese phone makers that OnePlus 2 shall be available to consumers on Amazon, along with OnePlus X.

The company got rid of its invite system in December 2015, for OnePlus 2. Similarly, by January end, the invite system it had placed on OnePlus X was also gotten rid of by the firm, OnePlus X was launched in October 2015.

OnePlus 2 64GB phone is selling at Amazon, U.S. for $415 while the 16 GB OnePlus X for $289.72. While in the UK, OnePlus is selling, the 64GB OnePlus 2 for £249.00 and the 16 GB OnePlus X is being sold for £205.00 on the above site.

It was recently confirmed through the Twitter account of OnePlus UK that both these handsets are officially being sold in the UK via Amazon UK.
