Season 5 of New Girl is going to premiere on 5th January. The upcoming season will not have Zooey Deschanel’s Jess Day since she is on her maternity leave. However, there are exciting thing coming up in the upcoming season.
With Zooey Deschanel away on maternity leave, fans have something else to look forward to. It has been reported that Megan Fox is going to join the star cast of the new season. The star from Transformers will join New Season 5 from the sixth season.
Season 4 of New Girl saw Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) deciding to get engaged and at the same time Zooey and Nick (Jake Johnson) realizing that they still have feelings for each other. The executive producer Liz Meriwether has told International Business Times that Season 5 of New Girl is going to start with an engagement party.
Jess and Nick who are the maid of honor and best man respectively for Cece and Schmidt throw them an engagement party where they even decide to have a Bollywood number keeping in mind Cece’s heritage.
Zooey Deschanel has shot for the first three episodes and then the story narrates that she leaves for jury duty and the boys decide to rent out her room. Megan Fox makes an entry in the sixth episode of Season 6 as a medical sales representative, Regan.
Liz Meriwether when asked about Megan Fox as Regan in New Girl Season 6 states that they never thought that the beautiful actress would be this perfect for the role. Meriwether gushed about her comic timing and said that no one could imagine that a girl this gorgeous could be so funny.
Fans of New Girl were not keen on Megan Fox becoming a part of the upcoming season and they had made their feelings very clear. Some even threatened to boycott the show until Zooey Deschanel was back from maternity leave. However, Liz Meriwether said that the role of Regan was written keeping in mind Megan Fox and they are glad to see how perfect the actress is for the role.
Max Greenfield spoke about new co-star Megan Fox and couldn’t stop gushing. He revealed that the boys were a little skeptical about whether Megan Fox will get along with them, since their off-screen chemistry plays an important role on their on-screen presence.
However, all their inhibitions were tossed out once Megan Fox started filming for New Girl Season 5. Greenfield added that Megan Fox is so funny that sometimes it became hard for the others to keep their faces straight while she was delivering a dialogue. He said that fans will be surprised to see how funny the actress is once New Girl airs in January.
Zooey Deschanel was the heart and soul of New Girl. As Jess Day, she was the perfect mix of beauty and eccentrics and it would be difficult for the loyal fans to not see her around in New Girl Season 5 after the first three episodes. However, they will be happy to know that Zooey Deschanel has only taken a maternity leave and will be back in no time to reprise her role as Jess.
