Motorola Droid Turbo Update: Motorola Getting Ready to Introduce Android 5.1 on their Flagship Device, Details Emerge

Users in the United States will finally get their hands on the Motorola Droid Turbo. The Verizon wireless exclusive smartphone will finally receive the Android 5.1 update after being on the KitKat update for all this time. Earlier in March, it was reported that Motorola’s Droid Turbo would ignore the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and jump straight to Android 5.1 update, the latest available right now.

Motorola decided to skip the Android Lollipop 5.0 update in the Droid Turbo since the VoLTE support was not present and this is considered a permanent feature for all Verizon-based smartphones. However, according to a Twitter post from David Ruddock of Android Police, the Motorola Droid Turbo will get updated to the latest Android 5.1 update on 10th June, Wednesday.

Rumors indicate that this will be an over-the-air update, featuring the build number 23.11.33. This latest software update will incorporate features from both Android 5.0 and 5.1. The latest improvements and enhancements include a new Recent Apps page, a new Material Design User Interface, a battery saving mode that deploys Project Volta, improved lock screen notifications, two finger accessible quick settings menu, Android ART Runtime and improved security features.

Furthermore, the Android 5.1 update will bring various new bug fixes for the different issues that are prevalent in Android 5.0 Lollipop. Earlier, it was revealed that this does not mean Android 5.1 will be totally free from bugs and issues.

Carvalho declared earlier that with thousands of various environments and usage variations, it is currently impossible to make a version totally bug and glitch-free. At the same time, it hasn’t been revealed whether the latest Motorola Droid Turbo update will clear issues that users have been facing with its 3900mAh battery.

Keep in mind that the latest update for the Motorola Droid Turbo is being pushed out in phases. Hence, the update might not reach users on the same day it releases. In order to manually check if your device received the update, you should navigate to Settings> About Device> Software Update> Check for Updates.

The Motorola Droid Turbo owners can finally relax as the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update has been confirmed for Verizon users. Verizon’s device test engineer, Jose Arturo added a Google Plus post declaring that the Android 5.1 update for Droid Turbo will be released in mid-June. However, it seemed like he was quite astonished with the information himself and has now removed the Google+ Post.
