Motorola Droid Turbo Expected to Get Android Lollipop v5.1 Soon, More Details

The Motorola Droid Turbo released on 28th October 2014 and was an instant hit with the masses. Motorola’s strong reputation following the immense popularity of the Moto triplets (E, G and X) had an immense role to play in this regard! However, unlike either of the three, the Moto Droid Turbo did not arrive with built-in Android Lollipop v5.0. In fact, the smartphone was powered by the Android KitKat v4.4. This was a major letdown for many.

However, the situation is bent on getting a whole lot better thanks to Moto’s latest Lollipop upgrade for the Droid Turbo. Moto’s range of smartphones was second in line for the upgrade, next only to the Nexus range of smartphones and tablets! However, the Droid Turbo was left out for some unexplained reason!

The stable Android version at the moment is v5.1 and the Droid will directly upgrade to v5.1, skipping the Beta version v5.0.2. Motorola confirmed the reports on May 8th on Twitter and the internet has gone crazy ever since! Droid Turbo users can’t wait to get their hands on the much awaited OS version and we can’t blame them!

According to Luciano Carvalho, a Software Engineer employed by Motorola, the bug-free version of Android Lollipop, v5.1, will be available on every Motorola device, including the Droid Turbo, soon. He was reluctant to mention a date, although, he claimed that minor bug-fixes will roll out later, as it is impossible to guarantee error-free operation on an OS this complex!

Initial rumors claimed that Motorola was once again planning to leave out its flagship device in the cold, like the Moto G and X. However, the latest announcement claims otherwise. Experts claim that the Motorola Droid Turbo was left high and dry as it failed the initial soak test. However, the engineers at Motorola have worked out a solution and hence the device is finally ready to run on Lollipop.
