Mortal Kombat X: Four New Characters Coming with Kombat Pack 2, Inclusion of Leatherface Leads to Fan Outrage, Batman Likely to be Added in the Future, And More

Mortal Kombat X is an action fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. The announcement of the game was made back in June 2014 and it saw the light of the day on April 2014. The game was released for PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android.

A lot of speculations were revolving around the new characters that would come with the upcoming Kombat Pack 2 DLC for Mortal Kombat X. The Game Awards 2015 finally brought these speculations to an end as the four new characters to come with the DLC were finally revealed.

NetherRealm Studios, the developer of Mortal Kombat X recently stated that two of the four characters will be from the Mortal Kombat universe and the other two will be guest characters from Hollywood movies.

The four new characters set to make an appearance in the game are- Bo Rai Cho who is a master of martial arts with a liking for alcohol. Drunken Fist is the main combat style of this character.

Tri-Borg, is the other character from the Mortal Kombat universe who is a combination of three other characters of the series namely Sektor, Cyrax and Robot Smoke. Tri-Borg is essentially a cyborg character.

The other two characters to be introduced to the game are straight out of the world of Hollywood movies. The first one is Leatherface, a malicious and evil character from Texas Chainsaw Massacre who wields a chainsaw as a weapon.

The other one is a dangerous extraterrestrial creature called Xenomorph who is a part of the Alien franchise. This character will reportedly carry traces of DNA of another Mortal Kombat character Baraka in the game and will have arm blades resembling swords as weapons.

While the previous two characters, Tri-Borg and Bo Rai Cho have been welcomed by fans, the inclusion of the other two characters in the game has created unrest among them. It was reported in a renowned website that Leatherface and Xenomorph featured on the list of characters that are least-liked by fans.

The report further stated that the introduction Leatherface in Kombat Pack 2 has led to an outrage among fans. Angry fans are voicing their dislike for this character on social media and it looks like nobody really was that much interested in the introduction of Leatherface as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X.

The inclusion of the character nevertheless has led fans into wondering about the reason behind it. Brian Chard, the Director of NetherRealm Studios stated the decision to include Leatherface was taken by quite a number of people that involved members of the development team as well as representatives of Warner Bros. the company that published Mortal Kombat X.

Brian Chard further stated that the list of characters that will be added to the game through the DLC is not exactly matching his tastes. He pointed out that the incorporation of characters like Sareena, Khameleon, Fujin and Havik in place of the four announced characters could have been better for the game.

Ed Boon, the Mortal Kombat series creator, has also taken to social media to address the issue and it was stated by him in his Twitter account that the grievances of fans are not falling upon deaf ears. He also said that it would have been nice if they could have included everyone’s favorite characters in the expansion pack.

The trailer for the Kombat Pack 2 was released in the recent past and it portrayed all the four characters in action. It was announced by NetherRealm that the DLC will be made available early next year. However, no official announcements about the price of the DLC have been made by the developers yet.

  1. I also do not like Leatherface being in Mortal Kombat X. NRS is turning the game into a worthless cash cow by adding these horror icons (although I gladly welcome Xenomorph since we already have Predator).
