According to Auto Evolution, the BMW3s that was used for the car chase scene in Mission Impossible 5 is still in working condition. McQuarrie informed USA Today that the BMW3s is a remarkable car since it sustained all the cruel treatment meted out to it and still continued to function.
While praising the durability of the BMW3s, McQuarrie particularly advised ordinary drivers to not perform the stunts done in the film using the car. He said that each of them was performed under control environment and some of the stunts were digitally engineered to make them look more realistic.
Automobile Magazine added that some of these stunts, including the one using the handbrakes in the narrow alley were done by Cruise. Cruise is known to have done all his stunts in the Mission Impossible films.
Tom Cruise spoke about one of the scenes where he drives the car at a high speed with Simon Pegg seated in the front seat. Cruise said that he was a little nervous about doing this scene since it was highly dangerous and he had Pegg along with him.
