Michael Bay Stays out Of Transformers 5, Jonathan Liebesman Rumored to Fill the Vacancy, And More

After Transformers: Age of Extinction last year, it seems that this gigantic robot franchise will churn out yet another sequel. Reports indicate that Transformers 5 is scheduled to be released in 2016. However, no official information has been provided regarding the cast for this movie. Due to the absolute lack of information, it is being expected that the projected release date of 24th June, 2016 might experience a delay.

The major reason for this delay is due to the lack of information on the casting members. Since the movie is half-animation based, it is being expected that shooting of the film has to begin soon. The addition of computer-generated robots is a time-consuming process. If the shooting doesn’t begin soon, the whole project could be delayed to a great extent. According to Enstarz, only Mark Wahlberg has been confirmed for this upcoming movie.

The producers and Paramount Studios wish to release a Transformers movie every two years and the next one is scheduled for 2016. Michael Bay won’t be directing this movie; hence, someone equally capable will need to take his place. Rumors indicate that Jonathan Liebesman, director of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might fill the vacancy. If he takes too long to get habituated with the Transformers director learning-curve, the 2017 delay will surely take place.

Presently, the rumors are growing in abundance. Even then, any solid information regarding Transformers 5 is yet to be released. Rumors also suggest that the Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson could be added to the roster, resulting in a Transformers and G.I Joe crossover film for the first time. Since Hasbro owns the right to both these franchises, the result could be a massive box-office hit!

However, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of the Transformers franchise declared that a crossover like this was “not a realistic proposition, at least not in the near future”. He further stated that they don’t really talk about it. However, when it’s really time to bring them together, they’ll surely go ahead and do it. In the meantime, they are strong enough to exist on their own.
