Latest Updates and Rumors On the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Scene, OnePlus 2 Likely to Receive The OS Soon, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4 Also Set to Receive the Update, More Details

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been in the market for quite some time now. A host of smartphone companies have been gradually rolling out the update for their respective handsets.

OnePlus had earlier announced that it would roll out the update for its devices within the first quarter of the ongoing year. However, as can be seen, the company is yet to make good on its promise. That being said, reports are coming in that state that the developers are hard at work with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it might be rolled out soon.

Apparently, a screenshot has been released which shows an OnePlus 2 handset running on the latest OS from Google. It was reported that OnePlus will finally launch the update for the OnePlus 2 combined with its own OxygenOS 3.0.

This package will reportedly bring some brand new wallpapers to the phone. More customization options for the home-screen will also be added to the device though the upcoming update. That apart, a new feature which is the Alerts Slider is also headed towards users of the device via the update.

The last OS package that was rolled out by the company for the OnePlus 2 was the OxygenOS 2.2.1. It brought a number of additions to the phone like RAW file support for the camera and support for Romanian Languages. Some issues related to Bluetooth, roaming and ultra SIM compatibility were also fixed by the update.

In other news, Yibada reports that the Galaxy S5 from the house of Samsung is set to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the near future. Uses who are using the device on T-Mobile are reportedly receiving the update at the current moment. This could be a clear indication that the update will soon be rolled out for the device by the other carriers too.

Though no specific release date for the update is available as of yet, it is being assumed that it will be rolled out sometime within the ongoing month and April.

Various reports also suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also poised to receive the latest Android OS update. The Note 4 will most likely receive the update in the second quarter of the ongoing year.

It has been confirmed that alongside the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge will also receive the update in the oncoming months.

Another renowned Smartphone company- HTC has also been busy rolling out the Marshmallow update for a number of its devices. It was previously reported that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has already become available for the unlocked HTC One A9.

Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile has rolled out the latest OS update for the HTC One M9 at the beginning of the ongoing month. However, another carrier, AT&T has yet not released the Android M OS for the device.

Two HTC devices that are currently receiving the update are – HTC One E8 and HTC One M8 Eye. It should however be noted that the update is currently being rolled out only ion China.

Another device of the M8 lineup, the HTC One M8 has already received the update at the beginning of March. It was Verizon and T-Mobile who rolled out the update in the United States.

The HTC Desire Eye was released back in 2014 and HTC initially did not include the device in the list of eligible handsets for the Android M update. However, the latest reports claim that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is currently being rolled out for the device. Users of the HTC Desire Eye in UAE and Italy are presently receiving the update combined with HTC’s own Sense 7.0 UI.
