Simmons said that when he first heard about the movie his initial reaction was why would anyone be interested in a new King Kong. He then met up with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the director of the film as well as the scriptwriter John Gatins. Jordan was very passionate about what he is going to work on.

Simmons liked the new angle that the film would be taking in the old story of King Kong. Moreover, the film was being set in Detroit, which is where he grew up. The other reason that got him interested in Kong: Skull Island was the fact that the movie would be shot in Detroit during the baseball season and this would give him the perfect opportunity to go ahead and watch the Tigers in action.

Tom Hiddleston has been involved with the project since the initial days of the movie pre-production, said that Jordan Vogt-Roberts has an extraordinary vision and it is going to beautifully portrayed in the upcoming film.

Hiddleston said that the King Kong story that Vogt-Roberts is working on is something that has never been seen before. It is very ambitious, but it something that is going to be an epic. The vision of the character and the plot is superb.
