Justin Bieber is an immensely popular singer and songwriter from Canada who was born on March 1, 1994. He holds the record to be the first artist whose seven songs from a debut album featured on the Billboard Hot 100.
His latest hit number “Love Yourself” has been sitting on the top position for three weeks now. However, he is facing stiff competition from a choir whose song “A Bridger Over You” is a strong contender to top the sales charts in the Christmas week.
In the race to be Christmas No 1, Justin Bieber himself has decided to urge fans to buy the choir’s charity single so that it makes it to the top of the sales chart on Christmas.
He stated on social media that pushing Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir’s “A Bridge Over You” towards the top spot would be the right thing to do during Christmas.The NHS choir comprises of staffs, doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and porters of the Lewisham Hospital.
One of the choir members, Liz Steele who happens to be a physiotherapist at the hospital stated that it is nearly impossible for them to digest the fact that their song is featuring in the charts and it is actually competing for the top spot.
Two songs have been mashed-up to create “A Bridge Over You” and these two songs are- Simon & Garfunkel’s “A Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Fix You” by Coldplay. The members of the choir describe the song by stating that it celebrates and highlights how NHS is always there for people and how it is always coming to the aid of the needy, helping them to get better and to recover.
Bieber’s “Love Yourself” currently holds a slim lead of 662 sales over “A Bridge Over You” and the final results will be announced on the day of Christmas on Radio 1 with Greg James.
Another number by Bieber, “Sorry” is currently holding the 3rd position on the Top 100 Official Singles Chart Update.
TV presenter Kate Garraway is of the opinion that Justin Bieber is backing NHS Choir’s“A Bridge Over You” because he knows that his “Love Yourself” will ultimately fall short of topping the sales charts on Christmas.
