Frenchman Sets Sailing Record

Thomas Coville, a French sailor, has set a new world record. The 48 year old took a solo sailing journey around the world in 49 days. This new record breaks the previous one, which was set by Francis Joyon in 57 days.

Coville started this expedition in Brest, France and ended in Ushant, a French island. He sailed on the Sodebo Ultim, a boat which traveled at an average of 24.1 knots.

He hopes this feat will encourage others to follow their dreams.
