Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez: Re-match Scheduled after 2 Super Fights!

A few months back, Alvarez was a hopeful opponent against Miguel Cotto, the Puerto Rican Boxing champion. However, the negotiations subsided after some time. If the American Boxer doesn’t hang up his fighting gloves, only then will Alvarez get a chance to face him.  Earlier, Mayweather hinted that he might be retiring by the end of 2015. He doesn’t wish to fight anyone for the remaining part of the year. As a result, his fight with Alvarez could end up being the last one.

Alvarez lost to Mayweather during their first fight which generated around 2.2 million pay-per-view buys. Since that fight, Alvarez has racked up victories against Erislandy Lara and Alfredo Angulo last year.

De La Hoya said via BoxingNews 24 that Canelo is surely here for the long haul. After meeting with Kirkland and then Cotto, Alvarez will definitely gain a lot of experience from a rematch with Mayweather. According to De La Hoya, Alvarez should definitely face a veteran fighter like Miguel Cotto before considering the Mayweather fight.
