Fast and Furious 7 broke all records when it came to the business of movie-making last year and that was a clear indication that Fast and furious 8 is surely going to happen. Fast and Furious always had an ensemble cast, but there were many more new faces added to Fast and Furious 8.
The latest news from the franchise is that Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose has been asked to be a part of Fast and Furious 8. She is set to be a part of Dominic’s (Vin Diesel) gang. There are reports that Eva Mendes is going to be back to reprise her role as Agent Monica Fuentes of the US Customs. Monica Fuentes is likely to join forces with Dominic and Hobbs to fight the criminals in New York City.
Dwayne Johnson is also set be back as Hobbs in Fast and Furious 8. It was Johnson who had rescued Fast and Furious 5 from becoming an epic flop and his character is now considered too important to let go by the scriptwriters and producers.
Digital Spy has informed that Dwayne Johnson is also interested in creating a spin-off of Fast and Furious with his character of Hobbs. He has revealed that he is in talks with the studio and they are keen on going on that path as well. Hobbs had created a space for himself in Fast and Furious 7 and Johnson believes that the character is set to take an entire film on his shoulders.
Fast and Furious 8 will also see Jason Statham come back as Deckard Shaw. The kind of angle that his character brings in to the franchise, can’t be cast away. Fast and Furious 7 saw Deckard being put into high-security prison by Hobbs, while his brother is still hospitalised. There are speculations that in the upcoming film, Deckard will go all out on Hobbs.
Rumors suggest that James Wan is also going to take the reign of Fast and Furious 8 from Justin Lin. Wan himself believes that Lin is the best man for the job. James Wan has said in an interview with The Daily Beast that Justin should be the one to handle the film. He has done such a great job with the films that it is fitting if he closes it as well.
This statement by James Wan has started speculations that Fast and Furious 8 might be the last of the franchise, although there hasn’t been any official confirmation on this.
With news about Fast and Furious 8 doing the rounds, Wall Street Journal has revealed a deleted scene from Fast and Furious 7. The film shows how Leticia Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) was able to leave the gang and join them back again. The initial part of Fast and Furious 7 showed that Leticia was unable to remember anything from her previous life.
The scene shows that Leticia visits the hospital where she was recovering after the fatal accident. Being in a familiar place helped her to get back her memories. She realised that it was Gisele (Gal Gadot) who saved her life by bringing her to the hospital. She also finds her records with a nurse to find more information about what had happened to her.
The scenes help fans understand how Leticia suddenly appeared in the middle of Fast and Furious 7. The scenes also allowed fans to watch the late Paul Walker in his role as Brian O’Conner.
