After a successful run for five seasons, the British period drama Downton Abbey is on to its sixth and final season. There is a lot of expectation from the series that has enjoyed a successful run in both British and American networks.

Julian Fellowes, the writer of the series has been solely responsible for creating the series that revolves around the Crawley family and their friends and servants. The series has highlighted some of the most well known periods of history, the world war, the sinking of the Titanic and season 5 and 6 of Downton Abbey is based during the Jazz Age.

The show has been enjoying a good viewership since the first season and fans were shocked when it was announced that Downton Abbey will come to an end with Season 6. The producers of the show are of the opinion that a series should come to an end while it is still popular instead of overstaying its popularity.

Julian Fellowes, the creator of Downton Abbey is well aware that the fans are very skeptical of the show coming to an end suddenly. They know that fans often feel cheated when they are not given an ending that they had anticipated and complain about the series not clearing all their curiosities.

However, he was quick to add that the creative team felt that it was better to take out the show when it was still enjoying a huge popularity rather than overstay it.

Daily Mail UK has reported that Penelope Wilton is done shooting her last scene as Isobel Crawley for Downton Abbey Season 6. The cast and crew are shooting in Oxfordshire and Bampton, and even Downton Abbey’s Lord Merton (Douglas Reith) and Dr. Clarkson (David Robb) was spotted on the set.

Tom Branson (Allen Leech) was also spotted on the sets of Downton Abbey Season 6, which has got the fans thinking that Branson will be back from America for the next season. The last season saw him leaving for America to pursue a career there, but it seems like he will be back before the end of the last season.
