Downton Abbey Season 5 Witness a Fall in TRP, Season 6 is Going to be the Last, And More News!

Downton Abbey Season 5 had fallen out of favour among the viewers. The season saw an average of 12.9 million viewers as compared to a 13.3 million viewers during Season 4. While this can be seen as a result of viewers losing interest in the slow and cumbersome plot, some industry experts feel that the growing tendency to watch episodes online can be the cause fo the fall in TRP. PBS has claimed that Downton Abbey Season 5 saw 13% increase in viewership via online streaming compared to the previous seasons.

Rebecca Eaton, the executive producer of Masterpiece, has said that Downton Abbey was a dream project to work on. It is beautifully made, with rich sets and costumes and captured the attention of viewers all over the world.

With Downton Abbey Season 6 already under way, the actors and the production team are trying to give a fitting goodbye to their fans. The series has always been applauded for dealing with sensitive issues like rape, stigmas attached to having children outside wedlock, class distinction and season 6 might see something similar.

One of the signature images of Downton Abbey is the entire Crawley family lining up to bid goodbye to a visitor. Fans are hopeful of getting a similar send-off at the end of the Season 6 of Downton Abbey.
