The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil is set to be released on Netflix on March 18, 2016. The show will see the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil who is a blind lawyer by day and a crime fighting vigilante by night.
In the last season, fans saw Charlie Cox’s Daredevil go up against the villainous Wilson Frisk played by Vincent D’Onofrio which ended with the latter being put behind bars. As for the second season, fans are speculating whether the character of Wilson Frisk will be returning to rock up Matt Murdock’s world once again.
A renowned site reports that Vincent D’Onofrio has been spotted on the sets Daredevil season 2 and this has sparked the rumors of his return. However, it should be noted that the actor might have been called upon to shoot some flashback scenes from the first season.
In that case his presence in upcoming season cannot be touted as a return. It might also be possible that he was just there to meet up with some old colleagues with whom he had worked with in the past.
Just in the recent past a trailer was released for the second season which revealed that Daredevil’s main enemy in this particular season is going to be The Punisher. The trailer also showcased another important character of the Daredevil universe- Elektra Natchios.
Another teaser was released which showed Elektra and Daredevil in action. Daredevil’s new suit which now has red eyes was also shown in the trailer. Two other important characters of the series- Karen and Foggy were also seen in the video. Even the Greek Ninja makes a brief appearance in the trailer.
Last season Daredevil took down the Yakuza clan and since then a number of other gangs are on the rise. Thrown in the mix is the Punisher who only makes matters worse for Daredevil. Matt Murdock questions himself whether he is doing enough to protect his city. All these aspects will be explored in the upcoming season.
The trailer revealed one more important aspect which was a fallout between Matt Murdock and his best friend Foggy played by Elden Henson. They were seeing arguing about whether Daredevil should continue to put his life on the line for the city.
The trailer also revealed that the upcoming season will feature a society of Japanese ninja assassins who call themselves The Hand. These assassins are hired by bidders to do their dirty work for them.
A mythical Beast that derives pleasure form people’s death is the idol of worship of this group of assassins. The Hand was present in some form in the first season too. The Japanese character Nobu seen in the first season was associated with this dangerous group of assassins.
Various reports suggest that the character of Elektra played by Elodie Yung will have some sort of connection to the Hand in the second season.
The season will also focus on the character of Stick played by Scott Glenn. Stick as we know is the mentor of Daredevil who initially taught him to adjust to his blindness and hone his skills. Apparently, this character will be a part of a group by the name of The Chaste.
The main objective of this group is to fight the Hand. Both the Chaste and the Hand are capable of performing various things involving magic. They also possess the power to heal a human being of his or her wounds. It would be interesting to see these two groups take shots at each other in the upcoming season.
