Daredevil Season 2: Jon Bernthal Opens Up About His Character, Elektra to Also Play an Important Role!

Daredevil Season 2 is going to see The Punisher in action. Jon Bernthal, who is set to play the role of The Punisher opened up about his character recently and helped the fans get answers to numerous questions.

However, Jon Bernthal is a veteran actor and he knows that he must not reveal everything to his fans and he did exactly that while talking during the Television Critics Association.

When asked if he was a hero or a villain, Jon Bernthal didn’t answer straight about what he thought of Frank Castle. He said that that was one of the perks of working for a series on Netflix. There is no pressure to make sure that the audience is captivated enough to continue watching the show.

Bernthal added that he hadn’t ever thought of his character in any of those terms while playing the part. He added that what attracted him to the show was Season 1 where he saw Charlie Cox having to deal with the same dilemma. He loved what Cox did with his character and he worked the nuances and the complexity to his benefit.

He also gave credit to the writers who worked so hard to create a story with so many layers and were courageous enough to not do anything in half measure and also bold enough to explore things without worrying out what the reaction of the viewer is going to be.

Bernthal informed Comic Book Resources that he took a lot of insight from the series Garth Ennis and Punisher MAX. These were in the same storyline as his character and loved how the primary character was projected.

Jon Bernthal added the primary preparation that he had to carry out for his character was that, he had to be a husband and a parent while at the same time having his own dark spot that no one was aware of. That’s a challenge and that was the hardest thing to do.

Along with The Punisher, the new season of Daredevil is also going to see Elektra (Elodie Young). The first season of Daredevil was a huge success and Marvel and Netflix is now working together to bring to the forefront, the Defenders series.

Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who are the showrunners for Daredevil, have said that Defenders does play a huge role in how they work out the second season of Daredevil.

The showrunners will now have to keep in mind that collaboration might be on the cards and will have to work things out in that fashion. With Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage on their way, it won’t be long until The Defenders hits the screen.

Doug Petrie has informed Christian Post that Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and even Jon Bernthal have tried to give in their ideas for the second season of Daredevil and the writers have tried to incorporate some of those ideas in the script.

Petrie added that he and Marco Ramirez are very adept in weaving complicated narratives and they always try to draw up a complicated storyline that brings in a lot of characters and joins their narrative together.

Apart from delving deep into the stories of The Punisher and Elektra, the two of them are also working on the characters of Foggy (Elden Henson) and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll).

With two of the most interesting characters from the comic book world being incorporated into the series, there is a lot of excitement to see how they are adapted to the television series. The Punisher aka Frank
