Dancing With The Stars Alumni Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec Tie the Knot, Season 23 May See Derek Hough Replaced

Kym Johnson, who turned 40 last Thursday, got married last Sunday with her boyfriend of one year, 53-year-old Robert Herjavec of Shark Tank. The couple met in season 20 of Dancing With The Stars and were married in a lavish ceremony at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.

Herjavec proposed to Johnson last February, to which she said ‘yes.’ This is Johnson’s first marriage and Herjavec’s second. The latter split with his first wife Diane Plese in 2014 after being together for nearly two and a half decades. The former couple had three children together.

While the photos from the wedding suggest it was like a classic fairy tale, it was not without its dampeners. While Johnson was walking down the aisle her dress caught fire from a candle. It could have been disastrous had her man of honor not stomped it out with his foot.

Johnson decided to go with two wedding dresses. The second, which she changed into after exchanging vows, was for dancing. It was a sheer two part dress, which was bought off-the-rack, but was later customized for her by the DWTS costume department.

On another front relating to Dancing With The Stars, Derek Hough, the six-time Mirror Ball champion, confirmed at the Television Critic’s Association that while he would not appear in the 23rd installment of the show he was keeping his options open for the future, as the show was almost like family.

He appeared for the last time in the popular show with his sister Julianne Hough in 2015. The latter told Access Hollywood that she would probably return to the show because it was like family to her as well, but not as a dancer. She had been a dancer in the show for five seasons and a judge for three.

The possible cast of the upcoming season will not be revealed on Good Morning America at least until September, but there is already a lot of guessing going on regarding who could make it to the newest edition of one of the most popular dancing shows.

Among the possible candidates is Teresa Giudice (who is a possible replacement for Derek Hough) from the Bravo reality series, The Real Housewives of Jersey, and 25-year-old Bachelorette star Joelle ‘JoJo’ Fletcher. Also, in what can be considered a big scoop, rapper Pitbull may also be a part of the show.

Giudice told Reality TV World that she was once offered a place in the show which she turned down because she was doing Housewives. The current determination on her part maybe due to the stint she had in prison which ended last December. Her husband Joe is still serving a 41-month prison sentence.

If Giudice does end up on the show, she would be joining other Housewives like Kim Fields and Nene Leakes who had participated here. As for JoJo Fletcher, her show concluded on 1st August. Some Bachelor and Bachelorette stars to previously appear in the show were Melissa Rycroft, Chris Soules, and Jake Pavelka.

In the international front, Erin Holland, who was crowned Miss World Australia in 2013, told Daily Mail Australia that she was interested in participating in Dancing With the Stars Australia, where fellow beauty queens Jesinta Campbell and Rachael Finch too had appeared.

Jesinta, Miss Universe Australia 2010, was in the 2013 season with professional dancer Jarryd Byrne, while Rachael, Miss Universe Australia 2009, starred in 2010 with Michael Miziner, whom she eventually married in 2013.

Meanwhile, RTE revealed that the Irish version of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing (which is the inspiration behind Dancing With the Stars) would take over from The Voice of Ireland which was being aired on RTE One in early 2017, though the cast has not yet been disclosed.
