Gubler shared a photo of his character Dr. Spencer Reid in curly hair and geek glasses, wearing a buttoned-up shirt. This is not the way Dr. Reid looks in the series, so fans are presuming that either he is decked up to go undercover or maybe it’s a flashback sequence.
Gubler has said in an interview that he is hopeful that the creators will give him a personal life this season.
Erica Messer has also said that the creators are planning on giving Reid a girlfriend. Maeve, his girlfriend was killed in Season 8 and since then Reid had not been able to cope with this mishap.
Messer said that while Maeve is always going to remain in Reid’s life, it is time to move on. There are speculations that Tara Lewis might be the one to steal Reid’s heart. The two will be working closely in the forensic department and it looks like sparks might be flying.

I’ve watched this show since day one and still watch the repeats all the time. I think the character Emily Prentiss was such a great fit and made the chemistry of the show shine. They never gave her a private life that was in the present,just a few past tidbits. It amazes me that the women are all expendable but the males remain constant and evolving. They need to stop messing with the female characters, keep the original recipe and let them evolve as the years go by.
