CEO Lei Jun Reveals 5 New Prototypes While Details of Xiaomi Mi5 Are Released Online, And More Information

Xiaomi is a company that has often been referred to as China’s Apple. It has teamed up with Android Open Kang Project known as AOKP for the development of its MIUI custom user interface which is based on the Android Lollipop v5.0 OS version. However, there are rumors that suggest the entire thing was a prank on behalf of the AOKP team and this was officially confirmed by Xiaomi.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is correctly termed as a flagship-killer. With high-end devices releasing at budget prices, a lot of people are going for high-performance devices by Xiaomi. Recently, Xiaomi released another device known as the Mi4i, targeted towards the mid-range smartphone market. Earlier, photos of Xiaomi Mi5 were leaked online and people are wondering what they can expect from the latest flagship device.

Xiaomi, Inc. is the world’s third largest phone manufacturer and presently the hottest tech start-up in China. It was awarded a Guinness World Record for selling 2.1 million smartphones in just half-a-day. This record took place during Mi Fan Festival 2015 where it sold 2.12 million phones and racked up a blistering $335 million in revenue.  Besides smartphones, the company also sold 38,000 televisions, 247,000 power strips and 200,000 fitness bands, resulting in an income of 31 million dollars.

Their upcoming flagship device, known as the Mi5 is rumored to feature a 5.5inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a 1440 x 2560 pixels display resolution and 534ppi pixel density. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and Adreno 430 GPU. It will come with 16/32/64 GB of internal storage capacities with no expandable option. The device runs on 4GB of RAM. Reports regarding the camera are a bit conflicting in nature. Some sources claim that Mi5 will have a 16MP camera and an 8MP secondary camera.
