Design-wise, the HTC Desire has a colorful body with a two-tone plastic approach and curved edges. It is further waterproof and can easily survive up to 3 feet of water for about 30 minutes. It measures 5.97 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches and weighs just 5.43 ounces. Compared to that, the Asus Zenfone 2 has a more sturdy hard plastic shell design with curved edges. It’s slightly bigger at 6.00 x 3.04 x 0.43 inches and 6 ounces.

The Eye has a 5.2 inch display with a full-HD display resolution of 1920×1080 and a blistering 424ppi pixel density. The Zenfone has a 5.5 inches screen with a similar full HD resolution and 403ppi pixel density. The HTC is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on the Android KitKat 4.4 OS with the HTC Sense UI 6. The Zenfone 2 runs on an Intel Atom quad-core chipset, with the Zen User Interface and Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

The Zenfone is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants with a further microSD expandable option up to 64GB. The Desire Eye has a single 16GB variant with microSD support up to 128GB. Both these devices have a 13MP rear shooter. However, the Desire Eye’s 13MP front camera beats the 5MP in the Zenfone 2, hands down.
