The latest reports regarding Android 6.0 marshmallow suggests that Samsung is currently rolling out the latest OS update for its device- the Samsung galaxy Note 5 on Verizon. It was previously reported that the update will be released by Samsung during the ending days of 2015.

However, the company abstained from releasing it in the previous year. Instead it is being rolled out at the present moment. Samsung had previously announced that it would be testing the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a number of devices which included- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ on Verizon.

The software version of the Note 5 will be changed after it is updated to Marshmallow. After the update it will have a software version which will be MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2. The update will incorporate a number of new features into the device.

One such feature is the Doze mode, which puts the device is such a state that it uses minimum amount of power, thus extending battery life. This feature closes all background applications and reduces battery usage.

Another new feature that the update will bring is the Do Not Disturb mode. This particular mode will enable users to select the apps or contacts that will have the power to show notifications.

The update will also incorporate another new feature into the device which will automatically dim the screen when it is not in use. This feature will be called the Active Display mode.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also redesign the notification bar of the Galaxy Note 5. After application of the update the notification bar will have a white theme. Hints of light blue color will also be present in the white theme.

Users who use HD Voice will be able to access the Wi-Fi calling feature after the device is updated to Marshmallow. However, this feature will be exclusive to owners of the Galaxy Note 5 who use Verizon.

Note 5 owners on Verizon will also be able to Live Stream videos on their YouTube channel after the update. To set up live broadcast, users will have to head over to the camera of the device. Here they will have to select Live Broadcast mode from the Mode option.

Some other tweaks that the update will bring include the ability to replace the stock dialer with one that is preferred by the user, optimization of overall interface including the keyboard and an enhanced performance and improvements in response time.

Another company that is rolling out the latest OS update is Motorola. Latest reports suggest that the Droid Turbo 2 on Verizon is currently receiving the update.

It will bring a brand new feature to the device which has been named Now on Tap. Using this feature, users will be able to get certain search results from Google by pressing and holding down the home button.

What’s special about this feature is that the search results will be in accordance with the activity that the user is undertaking on his or her phone at that moment. Which means that the user will not have to manually input what they want to search.

The standard Doze and Do Not Disturb modes will also be added to the device via the update. Another feature that the update will bring is the App Standby. This is basically a power saving feature.

This particular feature targets certain apps that are rarely used by users and disables them which in turn saves power. Users will also have the freedom to manually choose the apps that will be targeted by the feature.

After application of the update, users will be able to use the external SD card to store apps and games that they have downloaded.
