Android 5.1 Released On Motorola Devices but Reports Indicate No 5.1.1 Update for Motorola Moto G2!

Google recently started rushing the rollout of Android 5.1 for its various devices, especially considering the latest announcement of the upcoming Android M. It is the upcoming mobile operating system of Google, scheduled to arrive sometimeĀ in the third quarter of 2015.

Besides the Android 5.1, reports suggest that the American Multinational Technology Company is hastening the release of their latest Android version, 5.1.1. The 5.1.1 update has already started rolling out on the Moto X 1st and 2nd generations. The latest confirmed reports suggest that the wearable Moto 360 has started receiving v5.1.1 updates as well.

The devices that already support the Android 5.0.2 update are the Motorola Moto G and Motorola Moto G2, the Moto X 1st and 2nd generation, and the Moto E 2nd generation with 4G LTE capability.

The latest reports suggest that Android v5.1.1 will not release on Motorola Moto G2, instead it will possibly be upgraded to Android M directly.

The Motorola Moto G2 was released in 2014 September, around 10 months after the release of Motorola Moto G 1st generation in 2013 November.

Considering the same release date and pattern, Motorola will most likely reveal the successor to the Motorola Moto G2 in July at the latest. However, Motorola is yet to make any announcements on the upcoming device.

Hence, we have to rely on rumors for now. In March this year, Motorola released an upgraded variant of the G2, which features the capability of supporting 4G, LTE connectivity.

In addition to the 5.1 Lollipop, Google is also quickening the release of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. This is being done in order to ensure that there are no more Lollipop updates on the plate before the unveiling of Android M.

Meanwhile, Motorola Moto G2 smartphone owners are wondering whether they will receive the Android Update 5.1.1. According to latest reports, this is highly unlikely and the update could be limited to devices like the Motorola Nexus 6, Moto 360 and Moto X 1st/2nd generation.

Motorola Moto G2 will not receive any further upgrades as its successor will release soon and along with that all predecessors could be directly updated to Android M.

The Motorola Moto G 3rd generation will come out ahead of Google launching the Android M Mobile Operating system. Rumors suggest that the 3rd generation will come with Android 5.1.1 out-of-the-box.

However, if the Motorola Moto G third generation is launched after the M unveiling, it will definitely feature the latest Android OS version. However, these are mere speculations at this point until Motorola is ready to make an official announcement.
