Compatible devices will also notice the inclusion of Device Protection and HD Voice. Under the settings section, Android 5.1 has introduced several other changes. Fixes include removal of crashing of apps along with several notification improvements.

Recently, a disturbing memory leak plagued a lot of users with devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop. With the release of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, the developers tried to fix this issue. Sadly, according to some reports, the problem hasn’t disappeared completely.

The problem is not widespread, but a lot of users have reported RAM issues after the Android 5.1 update. As a result, launchers and apps started force closing as the operating system starts consuming more and more memory. However, Google now claims that the issues have been fixed internally.

An issue tracker indicates that the Android 5.1 memory leak has been internally fixed with a status of ‘Future Release’. It means that engineers have totally fixed the problem, and it can be easily patched. However, no official information has been provided as to when the fix will be made public. In the near future, we could see an Android 5.1.1 update that hopefully addresses this issue.
