Android 5.1.1 Update: Verizon Google Nexus 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos Starts Receiving the Update, More Details

Users of Google Nexus 6 have been plagued by memory leak issues and this update comes with the much necessary fix. The memory leak caused applications to crash, lag or freeze along with other problems. With the latest update, Google Nexus 6 owners will be able to enjoy improved performance and a better battery life.

Right now, there’s no changelog available but reports indicate a lot of bugs have been fixed. Verizon simply declared that it brings stability improvements and bug fixes. The Verizon Google Nexus 6 features the build LMY47Z which is similar to the Lollipop build and version that was launched for the Sprint and US Cellular variants back in May.

As a result, the software was apparently available for quite a few months but recently gained approval for Verizon. Users can choose over-the-air update or just flash the factory image. If you flash the custom software, it will erase all data, hence maintaining a backup is essential and this method is recommended for advanced users only.

Others should simply head into settings> About Phone and check for updates. If Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update is available, you will be immediately notified to download and install it. It is expected that OTA upgrade will begin in the next 2-3 days. Once Verizon confirms and announces an update, this is the usual drill.

The updates should have started arriving and it will keep going through the weekend into next week at the most. The update is not a major one and users will simply enjoy a smoother and more stable ROM for Nexus 6.

Meanwhile, with Android 5.1.1 OTA Lollipop, Galaxy Tab 4 LTE users will receive a major update. It will come with Material Design Interface along with several security and stability enhancements. It features full support for Android Runtime, Multiple users support and Guest User features. Other features include abilities like Screen Pinning along with Device Sharing.

Stay tuned for more updates on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update!
