The story of this sequel is still a mystery to fans and we are not even sure whether it will feature Ellie and Joel, the two main characters of this franchise. A Last of Us poster was found hidden beneath several Uncharted 4 Polaroids.
The tagline under the potential Last of Us 2 poster reads, ‘American Daughters’. Moreover, the posted character is believed to be Ellie. A closer look shows that this character is actually wearing a gas mask. If you played The Last of Us, you should remember that Ellie is resistant to this infection so is it her or someone else?
Earlier, it was believed that The Last of Us 2 would be declared during the June Electronic Entertainment Expo. According to the latest rumors, a new leak suggested that this game was confirmed at PAX East. Furthermore, it will be announced during E3 in June. A source who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed this particular piece of news.
At the same time, a lot of details regarding the upcoming game were revealed. These details indicate that Last of Us 2 will be released on PS4 in 2018 and will include PS4 V4 support. Even if Ellie and Joel return to the sequel, they will no longer be the main characters.

Creative Director of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann told PlayStation Magazine that they have a few interesting plot ideas for The Last of Us 2. This includes the involvement of two new characters, indicating that Ellie and Joel won’t make a return. Druckmann revealed that he Bruce Straley were planning to release the sequel as a science-fiction fantasy title.
Together, they were brainstorming different ideas and plans for the game, including new characters and new ideas for Ellie and Joel. They wanted to provide it a sci-fi fantasy setting, while creating prototypes for all these ideas. As they were getting close to the setting, they had to shift their focus on Uncharted 4.
